Paraguay’s Minister of Industry and Commerce visits PEIE

His Excellency Gustavo Leite, Minister of Industry and Commerce in Paraguay, visited yesterday (Wednesday) the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE) in Rusayl Industrial Estate. The minister was received by Hilal bin Hamad Al Hasani, Chief Executive Officer of PEIE, who gave a brief on PEIE and highlighted its vision, which is to enhance the Sultanate’s position as a leading regional centre of manufacturing, ICT, innovation and entrepreneurship excellence, and its mission in attracting industrial investments and providing continued support, through regionally and globally competitive strategies, good infrastructure, value adding services, and easy governmental processes.

The Paraguayan Minister of Industry and Commerce was also acquainted with the role played by the Knowledge Oasis Muscat to develop an ideal environment for the growth and prosperity of companies specialised in the field of Information and Communication Technology in the Sultanate.

The delegation was also familirised with Al Mazunah Free Zone, which was established under Royal Decree no. 103/2005 to operate under the management of PEIE. The free zone is currently completing infrastructure work, in line with the international standards of the free zones. The strategic location of Al Mazunah Free Zone on the border of the Sultanate and Yemen makes it the Gulf gateway for transit trade to Yemen and Eastern Africa. Al Mazunah Free Zone aims at attracting local and international investments to increase the volume of trade exchange, attract advanced technologies and create job opportunities.

His Excellency Gustavo Leite, Minister of Industry and Commerce in Paraguay, then visited Oman Cables Industry SAOG, which was established in 1984 in Rusayl Industrial Estate. The company develops, manufactures, and markets a totally integrated variety of electrical products which include medium voltage power cables, low voltage power and control cables, instrumentation cables, pilot cables, overhead power transmission line conductors and building wires.
