NBC organises Open Day for budding entrepreneurs

The National Business Centre (NBC), which falls under the umbrella of the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE) organised yesterday (Sunday) an open day event at the Knowledge Oasis Muscat (KOM). The open day event aimed at disseminating awareness on the role played by NBC and Riyada incubators in offering a premier platform for Omani entrepreneurs through providing a variety of valuable services.

The visitors were briefed on the services provided by NBC, which include business development support and guidance, training and mentoring, access to markets and industry experts, and state-of-the-art and fully equipped office space, meeting rooms and presentation facilities. The officials explained that NBC was founded to facilitate and support the growth of investable ideas into successful businesses; build entrepreneurial skills through dedicated and focused training, coaching and mentoring; and provide business support facilities from office space, administrative support, financial support and consultancy services that are crucial in ensuring the success and survival of new ventures.

The open day programme also briefed on OMHUB platform, which was launched by the National Business Centre earlier this year in cooperation with Oman Oil Company (OOC), Oman India Fertiliser Company (OMIFCO) and Oman Telecommunications Company (Omantel). The OMHUB stands at 456 square meters and is divided into a joint work area that can host 28 candidates and an open gathering area. This platform is designed to provide the entrepreneurs with an apt environment that can merge lively and inspiring atmosphere in one of the most motivating spaces for the thriving of entrepreneurship and businesses in the Sultanate.

The event also highlighted the Public Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Development (Riyada), which was established as per Royal Decree No. 36/2013. Riyada aims at developing small and medium enterprises, plan, coordinate and promote their deployment;‎ instilling a culture of entrepreneurship and self-employment among youth; strengthening the role of institutions by providing employment ‎opportunities; assisting entrepreneurs to establish and implement ‎their own projects;‎ enhancing the competitiveness of existing institutions; and increasing the capacity of institutions to bring added value to the national economy, contribute to ‎economic diversification, and support both innovation and the use of modern technologies.

The open day event featured the success story of Faisal Al Yafei, founder of Innovision Engineering Consultancy, who stated that Innovision is a professionally managed multi-dimensional Omani engineering consultancy providing engineering and project management services to the Oil and Gas, water and industrial sectors in Oman. He emphasised that the company is committed to creating value for its customers and growing further in the competitive market.
